Looking at Meyer hatchery planning for next spring. Wondering if 2 female and 1 male is an accepted ratio for runner ducks. Also would their be any problem with all the ducks being different colors?

Also looking at coop ideas. I found one i think is darling. The picture below is one i saw on fb. They would also have access to a pond, cow fields, and 2 acres (1 acre is very moist) of foraging.

What would be a good ration for females to one male? Also should I stay with runners or is mixing breeds okay?
My flock is all mixed breeds. A lot of people recommend 1-8 I think for a ratio. Personally I'd try to go at least 1-4 so that the hens can get a break from being chased if he is a particularly randy male in the spring.

2-3 females to 1 male is ok. if you don't want to breed them you can mix breeds just make sure they have similar size. huge drake might hurt/kill runner female.

we have 2 female runners and 1 drake and have no problem. They are free range.
That's why I said most likely. I have a 2:2 ratio that works with one flock and another that is a 14:4.5 (one drake is disabled enough I don't think he can breed if he even managed to catch a female) that doesn't. Both groups free range all day every day.
