The father of modern banjo and bluegrass banjo, Earl Scruggs, passed away this evening.
A real legend.

I was lucky enough to be raised at bluegrass festivals and see Flatt & Scruggs often as a kid.
His songs have permeated my life, and the lives of many out there in chicken land, I am sure.
I'm gonna go play some lonesome songs, and sing 'em extra loud fer Earl, tonight.

How sad to hear. My uncle loved to play the banjo like him. May he rest in peace.
