I know I am being silly but tomorrow I have to sell 3 of my 2 1/2 month old roo's. I have tried so hard to not be attached to them but it is so hard. And I know after these 3 go I will have to get rid of 6 more. I already have 3 roo's. I know it is for the best but I am so worried that someone will not treat them like I do. My heart is breaking. I love my chickens so much.Sorry just needed to vent.

I understand. I'm sorry. I'll probably have the same problem soon when I figure out the sexes of my Silkies (Ok so not soon but still

) Hope they go to great homes!

I'm so s orry. I rehomed the 11 "packing peanut" roos that I got from my hatchery order. Honestly, that didn't phase me as much. But giving away the chicks that I HATCHED....whoa...so upsetting. I love the people they went to, but it was still hard. Hang in there!

Wish you were closer because we would love a roo.

I hear ya..I tried to get rid of my roo's before I got attached, but no luck. I am actually sellling one on monday and of course it's the one my DH likes the most. I got real lucky with this one cause the lady actually wants him for a pet. I have been fearing who I might hear from to buy my roos. I still think about the roos I had to rehome last year. This is the worst part!

I understand that you and a lot of other people are attached to your roos. I can't have a roo here in the middle of town, but would sure like to have one. I bought 6 chicks at the feed store, but if any turn out to be a roo, it will be my dinner. I love my chickens, they have names, but any roo I wind up with will not be rehomed to become somebody else's dinner. I haven't butchered a chicken in a 'coons age, but I bet I can remember somehow in the cobwebs of my mind. For your sake, I hope you can find homes for your roos where they won't become dinner, but the reality is that lots of other people have too many roos also.

It is hard being a chicken owner sometimes. Still you gotta do what you gotta do, for the health and well-being of your laying flock.
