Hi
I've raised 2 hens, Izzy and Maddy, since 2013. Maddy recently passed. Found her dead in her coup. She was a Rhode Island Red. Loved that hen. Have no clue why she died. Her sister is a Barred Rock and still doing well though not laying any more. She mourned quite a bit after Maddy's passing so went to a feed store and got two young hens ~ 7 months old. We got them home and one of them had a stool that looked like the picture in the article on Cocci...(sp?) which I now know is blood. Not sure which new hen dropped it but did get something for worms that I put in their water for a couple of days. Cleaned the coop heavily after Maddy died. The two new Rhode Island Reds, Cleo and Penny joined Izzy. Cleo was docile and treated Izzy well. But Penny was aggressive and pecked her. So I seperated Penny. She got her own pen. I live in a very hot place: Clovis, CA and recently our temps have been very high. Things were going well but after we went away for two days, we came home and found Cleo dead. I'm very discouraged and sad. Not sure if it was from the heat or disease. Any tips on how to treat the two remaining? Any tips would be appreciated.
