For those who were rooting for Anne Frank, the chicken I attempted to rescue after she escaped extermination at the egg factory, has disappeared. She was living in my bushes, I would put up an enclosure around her at night to protect her. Last night I went out there to put it up, she wasn’t there but it was getting pretty dark so I just assumed she was perched up in her bush. She wasn’t there this morning. There’s no evidence of an attack. She made herself at home in that area, she had access to food and water. It’s possible she was chased away or left but my suspicion is she was taken by the same people she escaped from. The same people who own the egg factory also farm the land behind our house and they were spraying the crops yesterday right behind my house. I think they were trying to be considerate, probably saw her in my yard and thought we were probably not happy with a beat up chicken in our backyard next to our coop and figured they would remove it. I wasn’t home, I wish I was to tell them she was welcome to stay. I was hoping to give you a happy ending. This whole situation has been very eye opening for me and so many of you educated me on the farm factory cruelty, the things that happen right across the street from my house. It makes me sick to think of what happened, not only to my Anne Frank, but what is going on to the million birds in that factory that continue to suffer. Here and everywhere. The one positive thing that has come out of this is that Anne had a couple nice days of freedom. Also I will be much more particular when it comes to the products I buy.
