Well I got a call at work tonight from hubby asking me how many chickens are suppose to be in the hen house, I tell him nine...then he tells me that my son went to close up the chickens (already after sundown cuz they forgot) and said there was only ONE in there on the roost so hubby went down to see what was going on. He found a few tight around the apple tree and a few more wedged inbetween the wall of our shed and some long grass hunkered down not sayin a thing...he barely seen them but finally heard one make a noise. He carried most back to the coop, and some he was able to coax back by herding them. One was still missing
He figured a fox come down and chased them all out of the coop (they have NEVER not gone in on their own). So the night goes on and I'm feeling SO bad for her (my best layer too!). Finally 11pm rolls around and I can come home and start searching for her...get home and look around and as soon as she hears my voice she comes running full speed to me and stands right at my feet so I can pick her up
OH was I a happy camper! Nothing was wrong with her.
So what do you think happened? I have NO clue what went on. Did they just free range so long that they lost track of time? They never did it before...maybe old age? They ARE two now. I just don't know what to get out of this tonight??
I just told hubby I found her and told him I just called Izzy Bean and she come running
He says she must like you more then she likes me! LOL She never come for him. I guess you just have to call her by name
He called "here chick chick"
I just told hubby I found her and told him I just called Izzy Bean and she come running
