I bought 17 baby chicks, barred rocks and mixes, last night as the chicks are almost 2 weeks, I have grown attatched to them so I decided to sell 6 of the barred rocks so that I don`t have to butcher them. If they were just meat birds then I would have no issues with eating them but I don`t think I could do the deed. I am making enough off them to pay for themself and 6 others so that`s good, still sad that they will be leaving but 17 is just too many in the long run, 11 is just 3 more then I wanted that also leaves room incase a few turn out to be roos.

I know what you mean...I have to sell four of my layers becuase I just don't have the room

They just started laying and they are so pretty too

I will miss them! Makes me wish we had built a bigger coop.

I can butcher rabbits and such but I think due to these being my first batch of chicks it's harder.I actually want to name them!
