Salem the cats story

so I have lots of animals each have their own story but Salem's story especially warms my heart so here we go.

In June 2020, we got our first three barn cats each came from a different place but they had become a little colony when in their foster home. Salem was the 4-year-old feral black cat they said if you are willing to take her with the other two you can have her for free, so we took her and her new life began.

they told me that she would never let me pet her but I didn't let that stop me, I spent all the time I could working with this cat and after two years she started to come around, I was finally able to touch her but only if she was eating this was a huge breakthrough and I was shocked.

so far this year she has proved everyone wrong showing her true self. She is still very skittish, but I was shocked tonight when I went out to lock her up for the night she was rubbing up against my legs purring and letting me pet her, I was questioning if this was even the same cat it was, and I couldn't believe that after 2 and a half years, this feral cat actually trusted me when everyone said she wouldn't.

You are very lucky! (and a very good job working with her for so long!)
Rubbing on you means she has claimed you as hers.
Feral cats, if you can get them to trust you, are the most loving and loyal cats out there.
She may stay slightly skittish, but that love and trust for those she knows will always be there.

Congratulations on forming a bond with Salem. Not only did you choose her, but now she has chosen you. I think it's an honor when a "wild thing" decides to allow you to be a friend.

after four years living in the streets with no human contact, you would think she would be glued to that life
