Is it true that the black on this chicks chest (left) signifies that it is a cockrel? These are my only two Faverolles. Thx!

Yes. Faverolle males have all black breast feathers. Females have salmon (lightish brown) breast feathers

But I question them being pure bred faverolles. There's no beard/muffs.

5 toes, feathered feet, yes. But.... if not pure bred, then colors can get tossed out depending upon what mixed with. Have to wait longer to see how they develop when fully feathered.

Thank you.
They came from Ideal Poultry and are about 6 weeks old.

This is mine. Also from ideal (I think). Same age as yours but these pics were taken last week, so about 5 weeks here. I keep flip flopping but am leaning pullet with terrible coloring.

Neither bird is a cockerel. They’re simply hatchery-quality Faverolles pullets. Dark breasts are common in hatchery lines

That would be good news for me. I'm not too concerned about breed standard since they're just for my backyard flock. I thought it was odd that "his" comb wasn't any bigger than the lighter color one by now.

This one looks just like mine that I'm questioning, dark feathers, but small comb.
