Salmon Faverolle chick - is “She” actually a “He”?

I purchased this baby chick from a local breeder who states they are professionally sexed for females. If there is accidents they will swap out the roo for a female. But I really adore Lily. I would be very upset to have to swap her. My concern is the black starting to develop on “her”. I think she is about 2-3 weeks old. Anyone able to confirm girl or boy?

Generally all that black in the plumage does indicate a cockerel in Faverolles, but lately there have been some strains about where pullets get it too. So I would probably hold off until things are more clear if you are attached to this bird.

I also wouldn't put much stock into what the breeder says about sexing. It's doubtful that these birds were vent sexed, and there is no other way when they are that young unless they are sex links, auto sexing, or bred for feather sexing. None of those apply with Faverolles.

Thank you for your reply! I’ll give it another week at least and then email the breeder. They state a rooster reassurance of giving you another puller if an accident occurs. She was reccomended by friends who use her often in the past, so it seems from their experience that she is usually accurate. Fingers crossed.
