This morning we got our shipment of chicks. One is a salmon Faverolle. She seems to sleep all the time and also peep all the time or her eyes are always shut or only partially open. I put her near food, dip her beak in water but she just won’t eat or drink.

Poor little thing! Do you have any nutridrench or vitamins you can give her? Sounds like shipping stress. If you can't find nutridrench then you can get vitamins at the feed store that you can put in their water or use polyvisol without iron from the baby section at any store. If you put the vitamins in water use a syringe or dropper to give her some and I would follow up evety hour or so.

No, we don’t, and we don’t have any Syringes. My mom thinks she’s fine and so I don’t think she go to get any but she just doesn’t seem right to me. We have bird electrolyte water but I don’t know if it’s safe for chicks. Is there any way to make some sort of electrolyte or vitamin water?

Would you egg yolk help, I’ve heard that’s good for them?

Do you mean the save a chick packets? Those are fine but not sure about others. If you're concerned then here's a recipe to make some at home from common ingredients. Electrolytes certainly won't hurt. Also, if you wet a little feed into a nice thick mash it may encourage her to eat. My chicks love it!

Thank you so much! No it’s electrolytes for all pet birds but I don’t think it would be safe for them.
