So I have 3 5week old SF. One is turning black so I’m pretty sure it’s a cockrel but can you guys help me out? There is also a lot of white and brown in the wings so I just have no idea.

I'm almost positive you have a rooster, because I've actually been doing a lot of research on salmon faverolles as i have 4 eggs in lock down in my incubator of this breed and that's what at cockerel of that age would look like so you my friend have a rooster. He looks beautiful and depending on what he looks like as an adult he might make a good breeder if you are wanting to breed salmon faverolles or someone who wants to buy him for breeding.

Thank you so much. He is going to my in laws, they already have a RIR roo and he is by far their favorite! They will have 20 chickens total so 2 roosters should be ok!

I’m a little worried about one of the other SF, it’s the one I plan to keep myself. Chest is looking a little dark but she is all brown and white with no black on top. In your research have you found anything showing pullets with dark chests? It’s no where near as dark as this one.

Honestly i have a few ideas it could be a cockerel slowly turning to dark colors, but i have seen many other people talk about there hens having dark chest i guess it's just an odd 1 in 10 type thing so either slowly molting roo or a cool unique lil hen

Sounds like a pullet to me. I've seen them with some black in their breast area. On the other hand I haven't seen a cockerel without any black on the top side.
