So I've been raising 3 salmon faverolle chicks and I've noticed that one of them has some pin feathers on her feet that look dark purple. They also seem to be painful to her if they are touched.

Has anyone ever experienced this? What can I do? I have some pictures, and I hope they are clear enough...Anyone know what this is or what I can do? The pictures are of her left foot, the ones on the right foot seem to have a few more. I couldn't get her to stop squirming though :(

Thanks...

One of the other chicks may have pecked the new feathers coming in and caused it to start to bleed. New feathers are full of blood. I'm not sure if you should pull them or not. I would think it would probably relieve her of some pain if you did, but you want to make sure you get the whole thing so they regrow (before she moults). If you do pull them have some quick stop powder or flour on hand to stop any bleeding. *I* would wait fir a few more responses before continuing though. Maybe post this on the favorelles thread in the Breeds, Genetics & Showing section. I've raised ALOT of feathered footed birds, but have never had this problem before. Good luck, I hope you figure it out :/
