I noticed that as they get older, the crossing becomes worse. It does not seem to adversely affect them in any way that I can tell. They just adjust. My hens have been laying eggs for about two months. The eggs were super small at first, but have been getting more to a normal size. Kids loved the tine little eggs. I used the for a three egg omelet for my husband! Which was really only about an egg and a half.Here's my defective one:
