My Salmon Faverolles cockerel, Dale, is in need of a new home. He is 22 weeks old and is currently our only rooster with a free-ranging flock of nine pullets.
He is great with the girls! He’s respectful, always shows them where the good food is, and just does an overall excellent job as leader of the flock. Since hitting puberty, he has charged at me a couple times when I’ve let them out of the coop in the morning, but has never actually attacked me, and leaves me alone the rest of the day. We are near each other all day as I spend much of my time outside with my toddler.
HOWEVER, the rooster HAS attacked my two year old a few times now (mostly when he’s on his bike around him).
He is an overall good boy. He just can’t handle a toddler flying around him on a bicycle.
I would love to rehome him since I think he would thrive with an owner and flock with no small children, and would definitely keep him if he wasn’t a threat to my toddler.
