Salmon Faverolles toe question

I just hatched out three SF's (eggs ordered off ebay). I didn't realize the breed typically has 5 separate toes.

Of the three, one has 5 distinctly different toes on each foot, one has 4 distinctly different toes with one of these per foot sprouting a toe nubbin, and the 3rd just had 4 toes period.

Is this odd?

Hi MamaMarcy,

Nope, that is very standard for Faverolles bred from hatchery stock. The extra toe is tricky genetically, and takes a meticulous breeder to get a high percentage of perfect toes in a hatch.

If you are looking for high quality hatching eggs, I would recommend NoneSuch Farms in Texas. The lady who runs the farm is a BYC member, and I just had good results from eggs she sent to me recently. Plus her flock has recessive white and blue in it, so you could get colors that are hard to find in the USA .
