Salmon Favorole Chicks

Hi. I have 2 Salmon Favorole chicks that were hatched on 10/5 and shipped from a hatchery (My Pet Chicken). They have pretty different coloring with one being much darker so I’m wondering if Gerta isn’t a roo. Thanks!

That's a tricky one. Sort half way between cockerel and pullet as far as coloring, I'm guessing an unusually dark colored pullet. Fingers crossed for you.

Man, stance in that last picture sure looks masculine.

Hatchery faverolles pullets can be really dark and appear to be suspiciously male-type when first feathering in, so it’s hard to tell. As mentioned above, I would expect darker with a cockerel, but you’ll have to update photos in a few weeks! Has a cockerel-like stance in the last two photos, but again, I’ve seen pullets do this as well.

I think they are both girls. The rooster we have who is a Salmon Favorelle, his feathers looked darker than that as a chick.
