Salt test to calibrate Hygrometer??

Hi guys, Yesterday I set up a salt test to try on a acurite hygrometer(not my first choice but needed one fast) I used a small cup, mixed to thick paste..It was at 65% for most of today but then around the 24 hour mark it stabilized at about 69%..does it look like I did this right? meaning this hygrometer is reading 6% low of the 75% mark?

Salt to water ratio to test is 1/2 cup salt to 1/4 cup water. Is that the same ratio you mixed your paste? Too little water to salt will cause the reading to be off.

Does that mean that if I use 1 tsp salt I use 1/2 tsp water to make the paste? Perhaps that is why mine is off too.
