Hi all!

I joined this group after realizing that I needed guidance. I thought, raising chickens, nothing to it; water them feed them and collect eggs. Then I found it was a little more than that not work wise but bonding wise! I have come to love my chickens! Unfortunately I lost one today, don't know what from. she was roosting on some eggs and active this morning, then I went out there this afternoon and she was dead...

Actually let me start earlier. I recently left my career job as a social worker to become a stay-at-home-dad while my wife continued her career in the medical field. When I chose to do this my kids and I decided to start raising chickens as an activity we could do together. So far everything has been great! We built the coop together, put up the fence together and care for the chickens daily. I've found that doing this is really good at helping me and the kids bond over good old fashioned work and dedication.

I shouldn't make it seem that I work a ton on them, I actually enjoy them!

But I am glad that I found this group and I look forward to learning things from all of you!
