Two part question please. I've searched all forums for info on Faverolle's but it's kinda few and far between.

1. I have a 6mo Faverolle (Bon Bon) and a 6mo old Polish (PePe') (kids named them. LOL). The first egg between the two of them was laid in the nesting box 2 weeks ago. I've watched the Faverolle lay an egg. I know she's a layer. Based on my research, I know that Polish are late/infrequent layers. I assume that it's the Faverolle laying every day. The main question is...can one hen lay different colored eggs always? I've gotten some tinted off white and others that are a solid medium brown. All variables are constant = free range, pellet food always available, oyster shell always available, etc... Are the colors different because they are the first eggs maybe? And, knowing that they've been off starter feed for a while, (and after reading all the "first egg" controversy about eating the first) would they still be ok to eat, or are the differences some sort of quality red flag? I haven't broken any open yet.

2. Is it possible to have 2 eggs layed in one day by the same hen? There have been a few days that I've collected 2 eggs from the coop. Am I just *that* lucky to have an awesome layer? I've read that Polish lay white eggs and the ones from the coop don't come close to matching my store bought white eggs, so I would have to deduce that they're both from my Faverolle. Right?

I can try to figure out how to post a pic if I need to, to help.
Thanks so much! I'm learning so much here! I *love* my chickens and in the past couple of months of reading here, am already working on my chicken math! I picked up a RIR pullet last week and have her in quarantine adjacent to my other hens now.

I would say they are both laying now. I had this same question when my first 2 began to lay - it was within just a couple days of each other and I had only thought 1 was ready. Eggs can vary slightly in shading, but they won't vary from white to brown. Also, 2 in one day is very rare; MUCH higher probability that they both laid!

Congrats!

So, I figured out the picture thing. As you can see, none of the eggs are true white and when I watched the Faverolle lay, it was a darker off white egg she produced that day (bottom row, 2nd from the left).
Oh, and the order from which they have been layed is from right to left, with the brown one on top being from yesterday.
