Well a neighbor ratted me out and this morning I received a visit from animal control, city ordinance in hand (BTW neighbor is too far away to be bothered, so they are just trouble makers). My chickens have to go. My kids are in tears. I want to have this ordinance changed in my city. Anybody else out there from San Clemente, CA? Please email me. Also, is there anybody else out there, that has already had city ordinance changed, willing to provide me with arguments and organizations that can help?

I too live in San Clemente and my neighbor ratted us out a month ago. I can tell you how we became compliant with the city. We are now dealing with the HOA, which is another can of stinking worms. All three adjacent neighbors have no problem with our chickens. It is the one "problem child" neighbor who has a problem with everyone and everything who causes grief for everyone.

I would be happy to talk to you about this, and bring awareness, and perhaps in numbers we can make a difference.

I live in San Clemente and so far my neighbors have been tolerant even though my Buff Orpington can sing a very loud egg song everyday. My silkie turned out to be a rooster,,,oops and was taken back to Norco that day. Hope you both were able to work through the problems and keep your chicks. I am waiting for that knock on the door though!!

We live in South San Clemente, over by Carls Jr. I have 7 chickens and have had up to 10 at a time. No trouble so far but my neighbors are cool about it. My kids love having them and we love the fresh eggs.
