Hello,

My name is Eric but I use my DJ handle of Professor Greyshade on the Web. I'm librarian by profession so I'm pretty good at finding information on chickens but there is a lot to be said for talking to people with hands on experience. So, I thought I'd join this forum. I have blog about refurbishing by run down home and property, turning it into a self sufficient homestead, and the thinking that lead me to do it. As of right now my latest post is about... you guessed it... chickens!

Marans are pretty cool birds. They lay chocolate colored eggs if im not mistaken. I dont have any myself but ive been thinking of getting some. Oh and welcome to the site

I just looked them up. Right now I've got one Rhode Island Red, two Ameracunas, two White Leghorns, and a Buff Orpington. Basically, I figured I'd try out every breed my favorite nursery had and figure out what I liked over the next few years.
