Hi all,
I'm constructing my first coop and have decided to go with sand for my coop and run litter. My coop is an adult sized shed. My run is 10x20x8 and has a roof.

I understand it is very important to get the right type of sand. Please see photos (if you use sand) and provide some feedback if you can.

The landscape supply business says this is river sand if various particle sizes, all natural, with no mechanical crushing.

Also, I'd love to see some photos from people who have sand in their coops or runs of the sand in use.

Thanks!

Also, it appears to be washed because when I put it in water and shake, it immediately settles with almost no discoloration to the water. No clay or silt present.

And the sand came from a local river called The Saluda River.

It has been more than a week-- How is the sand working out?

I have used sand in the winter to stabilize our clay soil. It disappears into the clay though.

I wind up putting straw out in the winter which works well here
