Sand vs wood shaving in Fl.

I'm so confused on what materials I should use for my coop and run in the Tampa Bay Area! Wood shavings inside of coop vs sand and sand vs wood shaving in run. Any advise?

I think your climate would be close to Middle Ga - hot, humid summers and mild winters.
I have sand in the run, coop and nests and works well for me.

It doesnt matter really. I use pine shavings inside the coop, sand in the pen/run. Shavings in the nest boxes as well.

Thanks for the responses! My concern was if I had sand in the run 1) would it get too hot in the summer 2) would bugs live in the sand so the girls would have something to do.
