Hello! My sapphire gem is around 10 weeks old and is starting to look like a cockerel. I have read that this breed is supposed to have barred roosters, and “she” is solid, but I am sure this is not always the case. Any insight?

Any updates on this bird, OP? I have seen and heard that the hens actually get quite large red combs and wattles.

Yes, he has not crowed yet at 13/14 weeks but has developed the start of saddle feathers as well as curled tail feathers. I would not be surprised if he is a hen. I am stumped on this one! He has been rehomed however I snapped this picture yesterday. @MandBducks

Interesting. I really do wonder about this breed/hybrid. They seem all over the place, especially for a sex-linked bird 🤔
