I'm getting planning to incubate soon and would like some more floofies. I currently have two silkie hens (one splash and one white) and a blue satin showgirl. My mature roo is also a satin showgirl, black with gold leakage.

With my roo being satin, will any of his offspring be silkie if crossed with the silkies? Also, will all of his babies be black? I've bred him once with my silver laced polish and got two black based chicks.

It all depends on how far back the silkie is in your satin. If your satin roo had a silkie parent then crossing him to silkies will give you 50% silkied feathered and 50% smooth feathered, carrying the silkied feather gene. 😊

As far as color goes:
Black roo with splash hen: blue chicks
Black roo with white hen: black chicks, though if your hen is recessive white (most silkies are unless you are dealing with paint), she can be hiding all manner of different colors. Partridge is common.
Black roo with blue hen: black or blue chicks.

All chicks may or may not also have some leakage as your boy has this.
😊

Thanks! Now if I could just get my splash to stop being broody and lay me some eggs.
