I recently had to go before my city council and have a section of their "new revised animal ordinance" which was against and limiting not only the quantity and greatly increasing the square footage of land requirements on land to have chickens. first we have only hens for egg production and enjoyment. thankfully, after arguing my case, that portion of the ordinance was deleted from the ordinance revision. the only thing that saved my chickens was one of friends goes regularly to council meetings and brought this to my attention. may I suggest that we as "chicken people" start being pro-active in the workings of our local city governments and press for ordinances and legislation that would be for our benefit. I happened to inform the city manager that we have an organization (BYC) were we all look out for each other. any other ideas out there?
