Oh my…3 weeks ago tomorrow I set some eggs under a broody. I expected chicks this afternoon or evening. I went down mid morning and the hen was off the nest with a lone chick peeking out. There were still to eggs in the nest, one had a pip, but both were cool to the touch.

Sometimes you don’t get to hatch, it is how things go. I gather up the eggs for disposal and as I step outside, I think I hear a peep. Then silence. I think what the heck, and offer them back to my hen who tucks them under her.

Several hours later, I go down to check and they hatched! Saved by a peep!

That's awesome! ❤️ Congrats on the hatch!

Quite some time ago I recall someone telling us about her garbage can peeping.

She had hatched all but one egg and after a couple of days she just tossed it in the garbage. A short time later, heard peeping from her garbage can, put the egg back in the incubator, and a few hours later it hatched.
