I think I may have messed up…
New to having chickens, I check my chicks vents every day to make sure everyone’s looking clean and healthy. Today I noticed a black thing stuck to the underside of one of my chicks and I assumed it was some stuck on poop. I went about removing it with a Q-tip soaked in warm water and some olive oil to further help it loosen. Once I got it off it actually appeared to maybe be a scab? And then there was some type of wound underneath
Has anyone seen something like this before? Did I mess up this poor baby? Is there anything I can apply to the wound to help stop infection?
