Hi all. My duck came out of the woods injured over a week ago. On her forehead it was open to her skull. She also had a crack at the end of her beak. I’ve rinsed it with saline a few times and have been spraying it with vetericyn and putting antibiotic ointment on her forehead.

I hope it’s not infected. The other day I noticed an iffy smell from the wound and there is a yellow colour. Is it infected? Any insight and advice? Thank you in advance.

The wound does look wettish instead of scabbing over. And if it smells, that's not a good sign. I'd put colloidal silver and DMSO in the wound. I swear by that combination - and both meds separately. If you wanted to use Neosporin, make sure there's not painkiller in it ('caine' drugs are toxic to birds). Probably safe to separate her for a few days, too. If she's dunking her head in a community water bowl or swimming in a pond, she's constantly putting fresh bacteria in the wound.
