Scaly Leg Mite Again? *Update* Buffy Died Last Night :(

I'm so sorry you lost your little friend......

I have one that I have been nursing with an ear issue and wry neck for 2 weeks now...poor things... you want so bad to be able to help them..

Thank you for the condolences. Buffy was a sweetheart. i see a lot of her in her little sister, Buffy J. They were best buddies. Buffy J is broody right now so not sure she realizes her friend is gone.

It's been a rough month, as i've had health problems with some of my other chickens. One that had to be put down for other issues, upon necropsy was found to have ovarian cancer. i think most folks tend not to necropsy, if they feel they know what their chicken died from or if it is cost prohibitive. In these two particular cases, i was able to get the necropsies done for free, and was really astounded to find both Buffy and the other chicken had cancer. That was totally unexpected. But the cancer probably contributed to a weakened immune system for both.

We do get so attached to them, don't we? You will always have those wonderful memories of her.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I have been hit with a run of bad luck as well and have lost three of my silkies. Buffy was a very pretty girl.

Thank you. The cider vinegar is for all-purpose health, the garlic for eradication of mites and worms, plus immune booster, etc, the ginger and cilli are for heart and lung health - onions are good for lungs too - and cod liver oil will boost vitamin D, and stop that paralysed leg problem that chooks sometimes get.

I hate losing one of my darlings.

Oh, I forgot - garlic is an anti-cancer agent as well - I have lost chickens to cancer - one with tumours, and one with leucaemia - it made me so sad I had to find ways to protect my darlings. Non-dangerous ways at that.
