Just had to share this amazing product with everyone on here who find these critters on their chicken's legs!

It's been around 30+ years and I've read on here that you only have to do it once, wait 2 or 3 days and then again and you're done!

Apparently it smells horrible and you must wear disposable gloves but other than that...it's the "magic bullet" for me!

Just got done with "olive oil dip" treatment @ 5mins each x 7 days and am going to finish up with this product before they begin molting!

So, if you have a SOUTHERN STATES outlet near you, call them and reserve a tube of this stuff! It's 100% natural ingredients and those nasty mites don't stand a snowball's chance in you-know-where of living after this is applied!

It's also good for livestock, dogs, cats, chickens and HUMANS too!
For reviews check out feedback on Amazon!

You can get it cheap on Ebay if you don't have a Southern States near you but make sure you shop around to get the best price!

Can't wait to get started on this for my poor sweet girls! :thumbsup

BOTH LEGS, FEET ARE LOOKING SO MUCH BETTER AFTER THESE NIGHTLY OIL-DIPPING TREATMENTS...NOW TO FINISH UP WITH "NU-STOCK!" :)

Fantastic news. Does anyone know the best way to wash a chickens feet when they are really dirty? Because I've been treating one of my chickens feet with oil for mites and the pen is very muddy at the moment, because of these things she has got very very muddy feet. I tried washing them today with soapy water and a scrubbing brush expecting it to come off but it wouldn't budge at all, her feet are still completely brown. Obviously I didn't want to scrub too hard especially with her having the scales sticking out a bit but even if I did I still don't think it would come off :( What safe cleaning product can I use to get this stubborn mud off?

Her scaly leg mites are better than they were but not 100% like I'd hoped and now I'm worried the caked on mud is a perfect breeding ground for them and that the oil can't penetrate them while the mud is on there. Any ideas? My fault as I should've been cleaning them more regularly I guess, I will do from now on until this mite problem is gone completely.

You may have to let the legs soak for 10-15minutes then scrub with a soft brush. Use something like Original Dawn in the water. Sometimes stubborn debris may take more than one soaking/cleaning.

For a muddy run, you may want to add some straw, but it would need to be managed - cleaned out frequently.

Appreciate that! They have a flat, dry cove area to free roam in all day, a 2-story coop and a 14' run out the other side - all of which are sandy with DE, hard wood ash & poultry dust on it. Same with the nesting box... pure sand in the summer time with same stuff in it. Roosting area of coop is painted with colored stain/sealer - including perches and it's all very clean. For some odd reason...my two girls do not use the lower area of their coop to go to the bathroom....go figure! Not my decision...lol! :)

Will be washing their legs/feet off with warm soapy water with Dawn in it, as I gently brush their legs/feet with a soft toothbrush. Then dry off with paper towel, put surgical gloves on and do the 1 of 2 treatments of NuStock.

By the way...that nasty growth on Abby's foot is NOT a spur. It looks like it's breaking down, drooping and sort of "melting"....can't wait to see what it looks like after 2 doses of NuStock!

Here's a pic! :)

Nope, not a spur. Just buildup of Scaly Leg Mite. I've never used NuStock, but have heard good things. Looks like it's working well!

Great will try that thanks! I'm in the process of trying to get enough wood chips to cover the run to stop it getting so muddy. It's only this one chickens feet that are so bad because of using the oil on them (shes the oldest bird and only one with the mites), but I know a muddy run is not ideal anyway.

Now we are all in agreement on that "growth" on her leg! Several real chicken experts on here have all said it's a build up from the mite infestation...gross!!! It's now beginning to look like it's breaking down - melting or slowly loosing it's nasty integrity! Used to stick out straight and pointy...now...not so much!

Gave both of the girls a gently, loving, relaxed treatment yesterday a.m, with a cool, breezy 70 degrees out and they booth handled it great!

John had them swaddled in a dish towel, laying sort of on their side while I gently cleaned their feet (top to bottom) using a soft toothbrush, gently dried them with a dry cloth and then wearing my surgical gloves...applied a thick coat of Nu-Stock on them...again top to bottom of legs - never the other way around!

Was surprised at two things about NuStock.
1. Smell wasn't any where near as bad as people have said!
2. It went on beautifully and dried great too!

That stuff is truly amazing!

Today is Sunday and they still have a good coating on both feet and legs up to their bodies!

That large growth is still heavily coated with NUStock so it may be a few more days before we need to reapply one last time.

I'm not, however, going to ignore that large growth on Abby's legs - so, if, in 2 weeks time, it's not better than today...she is getting another treatment!

We realized something today else today.

Abigail HAD that on her leg when we got her as a pullet in July 2016! We just thought it was a birth defect - but back then, we were both ignorant on chickens!

So, I'm actually happy about that cuz we don't have wild birds all over my hen area. They are fed 1/2 an acre away and just don't seem interested in the hen's area.

Since we know realize Abby came with this horrid thing...that means we may be done with these mites AFTER these treatments! Time will tell!

Will post pics of their legs in another week so we have something to look at...and thanks everyone for your moral support!

Ya'll have NO IDEA how much it meant to me and my beloved Abigail & Henrietta!

I'm glad to see you finally found a way to apply something on your girls legs.

Boy oh boy! You have no idea how hard it was for me to get that over with the first time! You also wouldn't believe how EASY and fast I can do it now that they don't even bother trying to run away from me....it's amazing!

Abigail, seems to actually enjoy being held and gently stroked but NOT Henrietta! She doesn't run away that much but I still have to use my chicken net on her and then reach under it, get control of her wings and then I hold her sideways (you know what I mean) and gently swaddle her with the dishtowel. She actually "surrenders" after she realizes that once again I'm not going to murder her! After that...no problemo! :)

I just about wore myself out doing this 5-min (both feet at once) oil dipping every night 8 nights in a row but BOY did I get results!

Now that they've had one cleansing & application of NuStock...they are doing so much better! Henrietta looks great again and Abby is well on her way too! I may just give Abby 2 more treatments instead of just one, but Henrietta only needs one more - if that much!

I can literally walk over to Abigail and scoop her up in 2 seconds now!
It's almost hard to believe I went from "No way!" "Not happening" to being a semi-pro chicken wrangler! I'm bragging now...sorry...lol!

Hope you got to see the before/during pics on here, KikisGirls! I wanted to pay it forward for other newbies so they can learn from my mistakes, trials and tribulations!

Well, that's it for now! Thanks for dropping by and as you knew weeks ago...you KNEW what I needed to do, I just couldn't bring myself to doing it until I found out their very lives depended on me.

Glad I didn't throw away my "big girl panties"....lol!!!

Bye for now, KikisGirls! :frow

That's exactly right, Wyorp Rock! Spurs don't grow on the front of a leg and they sure don't break down, and look as if they were "melting" off! :) I'm keeping a sharp eye on that thing and won't stop treating her with NuStock till that thing breaks down a lot more! We're not out of the woods yet!

Thanks for adding your opinion, Wyorp Rock! Keep checking on here for more of my photo updates!
