Scaly leg mites

Do scaly leg mites leave horizontal black looking slits (like a tiny cut) in the scales of the leg? Notice two chickens with black slits--washed legs, doesn't look like dirt.

does someone have a picture to post of leg mites that has created black slits (crevices) on the legs so I have something to compare it to?

Any time I don't know for sure I just corn oil my chickens legs and sevin dust them ...

This a picture of a rooster that was given to me before I knew what leg mites was,he was pretty bad starting to limp,this was my receipe DIP LEGS IN MIXTURE OF 1 PART KEROSINE-2 PARTSRAW LINSEED OIL-REPEAT AT 7-DAY INTERVILS FOR 3 WEEKS,It worked great an no more mites and it has been 3 years.
