Hello, In the past I have had Sebastopol geese that were extremly laid back and sweet. Last year I bought a pair but lost the female. I just purchased a female and her 7 wk old daughter to keep my gander company. I brought them home and put them in a stall in the barn until I could supervise them with the gander and they could get used to me. I was told that the mother was not friendliest before I got her but the poor thing is absolutely traumatized when I go near to just give water and food. I am afraid the if I let her loose she will just always avoid me. I would like to have at the minimum be comfortable in my presence. So I am looking for advice on interacting with her. The gosling I am assuming will follow her behavior. My gander is very well adjusted and I can have him around me with no issues.
Thanks for any insight.

It takes a lot of time and patience to win the trust of an adult goose. Maybe just spend a lot of time sitting out with them where she can see you but can't get away. Talk softly to them and offer some kind of yummy treat that maybe the answer in winning them over. My goose loves Dried meal worms my ganders favorite treat is whole corn. Romain lettuce is another favorite also 6 way scratch which is different grains is another big favorite.
