scary chickens??

My mom has an fear of chickens beacause they fly. I am going to have surgery soon and she will have to take care of my chickens for a while. How can she get over her fear of chickens?

LOL! Your poor mom! She must be terrified!

If it was me.. I'd introduce her to your friendliest, cutest, most non-flying chicken. Let her spend time with that one, and grow to like that one. Then maybe the others won't seem so scary.

And maybe you could figure out a way for her to take care of the chickens w/o getting into the coop? Maybe a mini-door she can access with just her hands so she won't feel like such a target?

I'm curious to hear what the others have to say on this! I have a friend in another state who thought that chickens were creepy. I've been e-mailing her pictures, and telling her all sorts of cute chick stories.. now she thinks they are cute and can't wait to meet my little group.

She just hates it when they fly. One day one of my chicks hopped out of the brooder and she screamed. the poor chickie must have been terified!

Awww, your poor mom. I just dont know how to stop them from flying up. They will do that when you feed, because they are excited. I hope all goes well with your surgery, and your poor mom. Let us know.
