Dh and I were heading down a country road today on the way to look at a car for sale. I was driving, and we were just chatting as we went along. All of a sudden I noticed a horse out of place on the side of the road. As we got closer, I realized he was out of his fence. The darn horse was LOOSE! Right up by the road.

I was so worried he was going to bolt in front of me. I slowed down to nothing, and managed to crawl past him. Fortunately he found the grass there very tasty, and didn't move. What an ordeal though, it really bothered me. The what ifs keep running through my mind.

Wow! Scary stuff! That horse would have walked away with some bumps and bruses and your car and you would be... Glad you are alright! I had that happen with a pregnant hereford and she was stubborn. People just don't care and fly up and down the road. She was a very good mama and a good cow. I believe since she kept getting out from the herd, she got tangled in barbwire, couldn't go anywhere and was real weak and some coyotes got her and her baby. Made me sick. Id rather her have got ran over instead of suffering. But that is just my story. I am really glad you are safe because that is scary stuff!

Wow, glad you don't live here. There were some punks drag racing down our road saturday night. Glad I'm the only in the road.

Atleast they went somewhere else, our neighbors dogs are always walking up and down the road (going nowhere minding their own business). I just worry they are going to hit something or someone on day.

Glad you saw it in time and that nothing happened. I have a few stories...

Ive seen horses loose RUNNING beside the road. All I was worried about was the horses getting hit

I saw 2 out grazing the other day in the side of a yard. The house looked empty (like no one lived there) but I wasnt sure and just thought they were tied out. I watched the house for the next few days. No horses or people there again.

I always wanted to find a lost horse and give it a new happy home when I was a little girl (I still want to too

Glad nothing happend! We hit a cow once (It was night time and a black cow..). The poor think died

That happened to me a month or so ago - Dang horse was grazing beside the stop sign on a major highway....

Another time a couple years ago a mare had gotten out of her pasture and was galloping alongside the road in the dark...I stopped and knocked on the door of the house adjoining the pasture to tell them....she went racing by as I was knocking.

Owner said her husband was out trying to get her and her foal back in, said she got out a LOT.

That is scary! Something like that happened with us maybe a year ago. We were driving down the road, and see 4-5 loose horses on the road! The fence was horrible, and there was a huge opening where they got out. We went up to the house, knocked on the door, and told the people the people they were out. They said, ''Oh its not a big deal, they get out all the time, we can't keep them in.'' WTH? They could have gotten hurt, ran off, or caused an accident. If they killed someone who swerved to avoid hitting them, I think the owners might try a little harder to keep them in.

The last time i tried to help a baby horse was out on the hwy my dh and myself stoped and caught him. we went and knocke don the peoples door. no one answered so we put the horse up. before we left the police showed up and there was blood on the ground.they were called out (911) and said it was a crime scene... we are leary about helping now(we still do it) we never did find out what happened there.
