My scovy drake flew off. I just got him one day he was gone the nest. Guess i should have clipped his wings.
 
I always clip new guys wings before letting them out. It sucks but if they're older they do really need to be grounded for a bit so they know where home is before they get their flight feathers back.

But I always feel so guilty clipping feathers. I just get so sad when they try to fly and bounce into a wall instead.

Not only do we clip wings of newcomers but we also lock them into a pen for at least a few days to give them time to calm down, and get adjusted to their surroundings. This way, they understand where the food and water is and that this is home.
