What is in scratch feed ???? And when do most people use it ????

Scratch is sometimes just cracked corn and sometimes it's a mix of corn and other grains. It's used as a treat.

I have one of those DEER scatter feeders I put in #50 cracked corn,#50 oats,#50 feed wheat. & mix it all up. I have it set to scatter every day at 12:00 For 10 seconds. this thing works GREAT! the birds love to come running when they hear the thing go off . they scratch & dig for hours around that thing.-works great!!

Thanks, We put big 30 pound feeders in the coop for winter (In case we get out there late some mornings due to snow) They are filled 50% cracked corn and 50% layer pellets.....but now all the chickens hang out inside, so I was thinking I would throw some scratch out during the day to give em somthing to do, So its not the same as cracked corn and layer pellets ?? And is good for the winter months ???

its game maintenance, and game conditioner,, and the spur pellets they call "super spur" ,, it has crude protein of 32% ,, it has protein from both animal and veggies, has calcium, magnesium, potassium,, has digestive microflora, and has their daily allowance of vitamins, without overdosing risks for vit.

EDIT: ta say,, the spur pellets you only mix with your regular feed at 10% ,, and while their molting or stressed you mix at 20% of total feed mixture
