Greetings, poultry people!
I’ve been checking backyard chickens for answers to questions for years and finally had one that I haven’t seen an answer to. Y’all are a goldmine for information.
I’ve had my own flock for 3-4 years. I started with Speckled Sussex which has morphed into Heinz 57. Sussex, Black Asian, Silver Quill, and Orpington. I grew up with chickens (no, I don’t mean my siblings) so getting into them again was inevitable.
I live in South Dakota where in May, we’ve only had spring-like weather for about 4 days. My family (husband and 5 kids) spend all of the limited “nice” South Dakota weather outside, gardening, arborist, biking and swimming.
I am pleased to be part of this community.

Our spring keeps coming and going too. A few days of hot weather then a few days of very cold(for time of year). I'm losing some plants from the start & stop thing of growing conditions. My winter hardy cactus that survived many bitter winters & blizzards rotted this year because of so many thaws. Too much melting.

This year is really off goofed up, seems like all over the country. Welcome to Backyard chickens - at least people keep hatching eggs.

:welcome It’s great to have you here. I hope you enjoy the site :thumbsup

So I’m curious now... what is your question that you couldn’t find the answer to? I’ve no doubt someone here will be able to give you a good answer :D

:welcome
