So I hear they are the sweetest geese.
What about noise?
I live in suburbia but I am willing to give it a shot. The noise will just alert my neighbors. I have heard the chinese and african. Holy crap they are loud. Toulouse are not so bad. Are the sebastopols quieter then that?

I just want a pair. Will a .20 of an acre suffice with a kiddie pool? How much will they "love" my gardens? I don't grow food, just flowers.

I have a pair of them and they are 10weeks old. I absolutely

them!!! I don't think they are noisy but they do like to "chat" with me when they see me coming and that gets my ducks "chatting" and then the chicken "chatting" and then it gets pretty loud for a about a minute then everyones quiet again! I was soo excited for the chickens and ducks and now feel kinda bad because the Sebbies are my Favorites for sure!!
We do not have a pond-kiddie pool is just fine!
When ours free range they stay near the coop with the other animals, they do love the farmers corn so I do have to steer them from eating that they will eat your plants if they look tasty to them so just know that it's a big possibility. Mine are only allowed to free range in the evenings so I limit their exposure to those things and I have nice plants and garden!

When they are in breeding season, can I just take the eggs and they will keep laying till the season is over? Or will they naturally only lay so many? I think I will let her sit but I want her to lay aslong as I can get her too.

What is the best feed for them, besides the grass? When we mow, can I just dump it out for them?

What I do in a situation such as yours is take the eggs as if you leave too many she may decide she has enough and will quit laying- mark them as to date they were laid. Usually this keeps them going. Then if she decides to sit on her own you take a certian number of the most recent eggs and pop them under her and start counting 30 days. I'd mark them if you have other female geese in case one lays in there with her, she'll take those eggs too. If it is only her you don't need to worry. If she doesn't sit when it's coming close to the end of the season you can start letting her keep some eggs (about the middle of May or so) in the hopes that once she gets enough she'll start sitting. Laying season ends round about June 1, mine quit 2 weeks early due to an early hot snap so everything is just approximate. Also instead of real eggs you could get "dummy" eggs and take hers and replace it with a dummy egg. Then if she sits you trade out the dummies for the real ones.

My Peter isn't loud but I only have one and he's only going on 11 weeks old. He swims in a kiddie pool and loves it. He follows me around like a puppy, its so cute. When we're all out in the evening, sitting on the lawn, Peter sits on the lawn with us, or is up eating grass and weeds.

So far he's left my gardens alone but I think that's because we have so much grass and weeds around that he hasn't gotten to the gardens. Although he has found the wild strawberries and he LOVES those!

I feed Mazuri Maintenance for Waterfowl. I also add 250 mgs of Niacin to 1 gallon of drinking water. To the Mazuri I add 10% oats and 10% cat food for added protein because Mazuri only has 14% protein.

If you get Purina Duck Grower, it has 16% protein and you don't need the added dry cat food to it.

In the spring I plan on adding more Sebastopols. I absolutely adore Peter and definitely want more to add to my little farm.

I feed them the same as my chickens. They started out on non medicated starter 20% and at 4weeks switched them to grower and since mine are only 10weeks old I still have them on that.

I called the feed store and asked if they carries waterfowl feed. They say yea, it's called scratch.

So frustrating. I might just have to order or settle for turkey feed.

What is the right amount of protien for geese?

Also where would one find fake goose eggs?
