Hi Everyone im new here i do have alot of chickens but am also a new goose owner ,We got a mating pair of Sebastopol Geese about 10 days ago ,this afternoon i went to go say hello and noticed that my male had a dark spot on his wing ,after looking closer i noticed there was blood (dried ) and he had what looked like a broken feather ....I am very worried even though he is not still bleeding should i clean the wound and put anything on it to prevent infection ,I am A new goose owner i do have some of the no more pecking cover up from my chickens would that work also have some
Vetericyn spray should i use that also thank you so much any help would be greatly apperciated !!!!

Blood feathers that have been partially broken off should be plucked to stop bleeding. But first, you can try pressure to the bleeding site, blood stop powder or cornstarch. If that does not help, get some pliers and pluck it. Here is a good article to read: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=15+1912&aid=2691
Thank you so very much !!! there is no more bleeding at all ,the feather was broken clean it looks like we checked him over VERY well and also no blood in his coop the bedding is light colored pine shavings so we checked and nothing there , we did spray the area down with some Blue Kote just incase i was so worried about infection ,and ive been back out there again just to make sure Still no more blood ;) this makes me happy ill keep checking him ,he does share a Large coop with a few of my hens and two 10 week old ducklings they are a big happy family no fighting or anything like that i was wondering if i should have the 4 hens that stay with them go to the other coop until he is healed they dont seem to be bothering him ???
