Hello everyone,
I have a Sebright cockerel who lives with LF (and has done for some years). I used to have 3 Sebright girls but unfortunately I lost all 3 of them last year. He was very attached to my 2 old girls, both of which I have lost this year due to age. My little boy has now become very wary of the other chickens. He acts as though they are chasing him and picking on him which they aren't. If one goes near him he runs away like he's anticipating being attacked. I was wondering if I should get a couple of bantam girls to 'keep him company'. I have room so that isn't an issue but I'm unsure if it will help settle him. If I go ahead I'm wondering if he will mix with a different type of bantam ? Thanks in advance for any advice

I have 2 Sebright hens, 3 bantam cochin hens and a bantam buff brahma hen. The Sebrights are smaller than the others and at the bottom of the pecking order. Based on my admittedly limited experience, I would worry that he might act the same way with most bantam breeds. Possibly a couple of bantam silkies, since they're supposed to be very docile? I'm assuming more Sebrights aren't an option?

Many thanks for your reply. I couldn't find any Sebright hens for sale so wondered about other bantams. Unbelievably I found someone who has Sebright hens yesterday so all being well he should have a couple of girls to look after very soon 😀
