(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have had chickens a couple of years now but everyday feels like the first. I learn new things every day and I know that I am far from an expert. I am always hoping for helpful advice as long as it is positive and productive.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have about 50 to 60 birds right now. That includes ducks and chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have? I am unsure of the exact breeds, but I do know I have some silkies and some bantams and also some bantam silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I have some free-range and some in coops. I love watching the free-range scratch around and the coops have my sitting hens in and that is probably my favorite thing to watch is the baby chicks shortly after they hatch.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I am trying to learn to homestead and farm. My favorite thing to do is pretty much anything that has to do with nature or animals. We also do a lot of camping and hunting. I love to research things when I am unable to figure something out. It still amazes me how I am able to reach out to my chicken family here when I need help.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am a farmer with chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats and guinea pigs. I have 3 cats and one is pregnant, 6 dogs, 6 guinea pigs, 12 rabbits, 15 ducks and a lot of chickens.
