Our new chicks, 10 weeks, have been in a dog crate, last night was their first night we put them in the big coop, divided so the big hens can't hurt them, they cried last night but got over it, tonight we went to put them in and it was so hard, they didn't even want to come out the carrier, were trying to jump out the coop and when the door was shut they were crying and pecking at the window....broke my heart. We have a new small coop/with a run but just have them there during the day, i figured them sleeping in the new one would just mean going through this twice....is this normal behavior??

They will get used to it. Right now, it's new, and anything new to a chicken is scary. There isn't a lot of room between their ears.

I would leave them in there day and night, so long as they are protected from the big girls. Moving them back and forth is hard for you and them. Let them get used to the area in the daylight.
