For those that use the conibear traps I was wondering if you secure them.

It is enough to just put the ring from the chain on a wooden stake,or do you need to attach it to something with a lock?

I am thinking if it goes off on a foot or tail the animal will run off with the trap instead of the trap doing a clean cut right?

You can secure it as they usually do a quick kill but if you are worried about it catching the wrong animal you can use a drag, something heavy but movable.

Well going to use a hook or rock. One trap is gone.Glad they aren't expensive, but they sure are sensitive when it comes to setting them off.
Got some ideas on the Y TUBE for getting the target pests while protecting the non-targets.
