I found my pullet spazzing out in the pen today. I picked her up and she's trembling. I brought her inside and she was walking around, just trembling a little. She drank electrolyte water on her own. A few minutes later she seemed to have a seizure. Her head curled up to her body and she was flopping around. Kind of like they do when they die. It stopped after a few seconds and she got up and started walking around again. Still trembling. Did not notice a problem with her yesterday. Her pen mates are acting normal. She's about 4-5 months old.

Chickens can suffer from seizure disorders as can all animals. They also may suffer from head inuries and infections. The electrolytes in the water and some vitamins may help. I would hav a look around the ranging area, just in case there could be some sort of plant or toxin that could make her sick. I have some who will tremble when I hold them, but along with the seizure activity, I would be doncerned and watch her closely.

I'm wondering if getting overheated could do it. She seems to be improving. She's in a tractor so only has access to grass, feed, and water.

She's still doing it. I was going to do a fecal but noticed she hasn't gone to the bathroom. Her crop and vent are not blocked. She had access to food.

I used a trip to get a sample. It was mucusy and opaque white. Under the microscope I didn't find worm eggs. I did find mites and weird star shaped bunches. Not sure if they are food or what but there were a lot.

And she pooped right while I was typing. Looks normal although big.
