Seller states:

Emerald (or Spalding with a lot of green) Black Shoulder Peahen will be 2 years old this spring. Very unusual color Black Shoulder hens typically are mostly
white and have very little green on neck. This hen has full green neck $75.

Any ideas on what this is? Do you think the seller is correct?

The crest and legs do not look like an emerald, ( emerald should be at least 75% green blood ) The color does. It would be a black shoulder spalding. Sometime genotype and phenotype do not always look alike even in siblings.. You have to trust the breeder that he has good records. I would buy it if it was close to me for that price. just for the genes. See if he has a brother to it. connerhills

Maybe just as well... go to my web site and look on "the varieties of peafowl " tab then click the "Unisex" tab.. Does that look familure ? This bird never laid an egg and live to be 10 yrs or so. Was pretty. This does not imply that all birds that look this way are just like the one I had. George http://boxess.com/connerhills

I did question why she was selling it, as the other birds she has for sale are all males. I forgot to ask her specifically why she did not want this female.

She did say she was trying to reduce the number of birds she has, but mostly males.

Oh well. She was very nice and invited me to come see her birds, so all-in-all it worked out. I get to meet another "crazy bird person," who lives close to me
