Hello,
Our chickens have been laying for a little over a month now. They started out slow, but as time went on they started laying more and more. Now we are finally to the point where we can't eat all the eggs that they produce, because there are so many. We were wondering if we could sell the eggs on this forum. We were also thinking about expanding our flock. Do you know any good egg layers that are a different species than what we have? We have leghorns, rhode island reds and silver wyandottes
Thank you

I’m going to guess you wouldn’t find buyers on here unless you had fertile hatching eggs. Most of us already have chickens 🤪 I sell mine to neighbors, coworkers, and even friends’ coworkers! I rely totally on word of mouth but Facebook and Facebook Marketplace is a good place to start as well. It’s a bit more local than BYC. You could try your state’s thread, but again I don’t think BYC is your best chance. Good luck!!

My primary purpose is just egg laying. Wouldn't mind a pretty chicken though.
I think golden comets are pretty. My neighbors have them and they lay later into the year than my heritage breeds which start molting. They lay huge eggs and from my understanding they actually consume less feed than other breeds. They rarely turn broody. Many hybrid breeds are designed to be this way though, not just golden comets. Her chickens never have health issues either.

You want to sell locally, shipping eggs would be tough and make the price beyond reasonable.

Exactly!! :gig

Sell to co-workers is easiest. My husband takes extras to work, tells co-workers will take donation for feed. Gave away some since they were smaller eggs when just beginning to lay. We are in a rural farm area so most people can have chickens - but many don't keep chickens so will pay for eggs.
