Wasnt sure where to put this. About a month ago,,I couldnt keep up with the demand for my eggs,,I'm getting about 3 dozen per day. But now I have plenty of eggs and no buyers. This is my first year in selling eggs and was wondering if every year at this time does business slow down because of longer daylight hours and chickens are now starting to lay more. Our local wal-mart is now selling their eggs for 97 cents per dozen,,,so I know that doesnt help. Any tips would be helpful.

Thanks
Dwane

I advertised on craigslist and I have signs at the corner of my road. I do tell them that once they buy 10 dozen they get a dozen free. We had regular customers that would stop every weekend but now its like they just disappeared. We tried a local eaterie but they said by SC law they cant buy them unless the eggs were USDA graded.

I always include a brochure on the benifits and some facts on fresh chicken eggs in every dozen that I give away. I also offer a 50 cents discount if you re-use a carton.

Someone on here had the brochure typed up, and used a graph from Mother Earth News. I've changed it to focus on how my chickens are, even though most of the info is the same. The original stated that none of the eggs that they sold were fertile. I can't say that because I have everyone running together.

Anyway, if you want, you can e-mail me and I'll send you my copy of the brochure. My e-mail is [email protected].

Hope this helps!
