selvin dust?

I read somewhere that this stuff helps get rid of red mites? How safe is this stuff? I want to go to Lowes to buy some. My hen has some red mites in her nest.

We use it on our chickens. we put the powder in an old stocking and poof them with it. We have also put it in the dirt where they like to dust themselves

I've used it several times too. The sock idea is a great one!! I just shook it onto the hen and also added to the dirt where the dust bathing takes place. It really works well.
